Let the 2010 Blends Begin!

There’s always something exciting taking place in the wine cellar.  Right now, it’s time for us to start our blending trials on our 2010 wines, which also means as a customer you can come in and create a 2010 custom blended wine of your own.  We currently have four varietals that are tasting great and are almost ready to bottle:  Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Syrah

They were pressed and put into barrels in November 2010 so they’ve been aging in a combination of oaks for about 18 months.  All four are complex and delightful and will create some wonderful wines.  I’ve done some preliminary blending trials and have been pleased with the results.

I conduct my blending trials pretty much the same way I conduct our year-round blending seminars.  I’ll taste and evaluate each of the wines and note their merits or weaknesses and then conduct some trials to see if I can create a better tasting wine through blending.

Four our 2010 program, I intend to release a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, a Bordeaux-style blend and my ever-popular “UPB” (my own description: Unique Paso Blend).  There may be some other fun wines that result from my trials so stay tuned for more information.

And if you’d like a sneak peak at what our 2010 First Crush wines are going to taste like, be sure to come to our June 15 Future’s Party.  It’s a chance for you to taste the wines prior to their release and take advantage of some pre-release pricing.  Our Future’s party is also a chance for our 2010 Crush-tomers to taste the fruits of their labors but everyone is invited to attend this fun event.

Cheers!
